Cultural fusion in Singapore "You can go from Chinatown to Little India or Arab Street in just a few minutes. The city alternates between districts with architecture shaped by colonial influences and futuristic districts with avant-garde skyscrapers. We loved our walk on a suspension bridge 25 metres above the canopy, as well as in the botanical gardens, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to more than 10,000 plant species, some of them rare and endemic. We found this mix of ultra-modern city and exuberant nature really interesting." Inner peace at Borobudur "The size of Borobudur, on the island of Java in Indonesia, is simply breathtaking. It is one of the largest Buddhist monuments in the world, boasting no fewer than 500 Buddha statues. As the monks reached the top of the temple, the rain began to fall, rapidly emptying the site of visitors. We stayed just long enough for the weather to calm down... It was a moment lost in time, just like the story by the writer Roger Vailland in 1950, which I had brought with me in my luggage," exclaims Laurent. Lovers of exotic lands, Christine and Laurent Lévêque embarked on a journey from Indonesia to Bali. Between an escapade in dizzying Singapore, climbing the bustling Mount Bromo, and the gentle Balinese way of life, they share their impressions with us, still tinged with the wonder of their first discoveries. 68Guests’ logbook: Asia in a nutshell
